Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

I have had bad luck with trying to find a video editing program that works with my computer. I bought Roxio Video Lab 10, and my computer crashes after I start compiling the second clip. I downloaded the trial version of Nero 9
and everything worked the way I wanted. The problem is how do I know if the full version will work. Are they set up differently? Can I just install only the features in the trial version. I just don't have the funds to buy another program that will not work.

Does your PC meet the recommended (not the minimum) requirements listed here> http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero...8c5b79c934ed16

Re: Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

Is there a way I can printout all the settings currently on my computer to compare the recommended requirements and /or where do I look to see if I have all the requirements?

My System

Re: Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

Right click on your "My Computer" icon and it will tell you your: operating system, processor type and speed, amount of RAM you have installed.
To check your video card specifications and type go to Hardware tab after doing the above, then click on Device Manager button and once there scroll to where it lists Display Adapters - the name and type of video card will be there and you can look it up on Google.
OR
Download and install Everest Home version from here and run it and it will give you all the above information and more about your computer - expand the Computer icon on left side, then click on Summary.
Most video editing software requires at least 1GB RAM and a reasonably fast processor - very minimum would be 3.2GHz pentium 4 and even that would be extremely slow to render video files. A decent video card is also a good idea to help speed things up.

Neither of the programs mentioned above are particularly good at editing video - are you meaning to edit or just compile video files for burning to DVD?
I know you have purchased Roxio and are trialling Nero - neither give you too much more than you already have with Windows MovieMaker (installed on all PC's with Windows)
If you intend doing much video editing check these out - yes, I know you don't want to spend more money but you can download fully functional trial versions which will at least show you what is available for not too much money.
Adobe Premiere Elements 7
Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum
Both of these offer multiple tracks of audio and video allowing layering and Picture in Picture, green screening and many effects and transitions.
Both allow you to burn to DVD directly and Premiere also allows for direct upload to Youtube
Hope this helps

Re: Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

Thank you for helping me. What I mean by video editing is picking different chapters fom my finalized mini dvds and compiling them to one disc. I would also like to be able to create a dvd menu where I can name the different chapters and put my own title. Here is what I have on my computer...

Pentium 4 cpu
2.00 Ghz
1.25 gb ram?

Intel R 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV
Version6.14.10.4342

If the trial version of Nero 9 worked shouldn't the "real" version?
I am sorry, I am not very technical savvy I started trying to compare what I have from the Nero link someone gave me and I am not sure if I have everything.

Does it give you an error or just terminate and go back to the desktop?

Re: Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

According to the minimum requirements you need DirectX 9.0c, Windows Media Player 10 or higher, And Quicktime 6.5 or higher, I think the problem may be the Directx requirement,
Go Start>Run> type in dxdiag, A window will open near the bottom in the center it will list the DirectX version you have.

What version of Windows Media player and Quick Time movie player?

Re: Trial Versions same as full versions? HELP!!!

Here is the link to the free Apple Quicktime player for windows > http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

I think it should start without it but give it a try if this doesn't work have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Roxio program yet?
