[SOLVED] Help with making a Video for youtube

I have a AVI of a TV show. It is a 6 hr long AVI that consists of SEVERAL ½ segments plus some commercials. Now I want to make video clips of when it is just the group singing. IT is a musical variety show and it was ½ long. I got a marathon of this program on 2 DVD's. I made one of them into an AVI file so now I want to get the guys singing (not the guest stars) How do I do that? I downloaded windows movie maker but the rest is confusing me. I don't see a slider.

Thanks in advance

Looking for a FREEware video cutter

Ok I now know I am looking for a video cutter program. Now So far they all either freeze or want me to pay for it. I won't be using it often enough to make it worth my while to pay for one. Most likely it will be a one time thing here. Can anyone recommend a FREE yet EASY one to use?

I have tried Kate's

AVS

boilsoft

SID

Now I really liked the SID one but it turns out it is just a demo version. I don't want something that will muck up the visual part of the clip. So I really need FREE but I also need something blonde/newbie proof LOL

Thanks so much

Re: Help with making a Video for youtube

Did you try VirtualDub? http://www.virtualdub.org (freeware)
If all you want to do is cut, then open virtualdub, drag and drop the video onto the virtualdub window. Go to video, and pick direct stream copy. This copies the video stream unmodified (no recompression). Then drag the timeline to the point where you want the cut to start. Click the button with the arrow and the key to the right or to the left once (it shouldn't take you too far off from where you were - virtualdub does direct-stream-copy cuts at keyframes, and that buttons navigates keyframes). Click edit, set selection start. That's your start point. Now move the time slider to the end point (doesn't have to be a keyframe). Click edit, set selection end. Then click file, save as AVI and type a name for your output.

P.S: If you're getting a VBR (variable bitrate) audio warning when opening the file in VirtualDub, use nandub instead. NanDub has support for variable bitrate. http://ndub.sourceforge.net/ (get the nandub v1.0 rc2 binary)
