Adobe 6.5 exporting time line as movie

Hi everyone, this is my first post so I hope I am doing it correctly.
Using Adobe 6.5 I have created a movie and the time line shows that it is about 53 minutes in length. I am able to play the entire from the time line.

When I export the time line as a movie I get an avi file that is 3.99 Gigs. When checking this file I find that only the first 22 minutes or so of my movie has been exported. I am using windows xp and I have plenty of disk space available. Normally I use NERO Vision to write this file to a DVD.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!http://www.techsupportforum.com/imag...ies/1-grin.gif

Re: Adobe 6.5 exporting time line as movie

Hi, welcome to TSF

If your version of Windows XP is 32bit rather than 64bit, there is a file size limit of 4GB.

Try saving as XVid or reducing some of the AVI quality settings. You should be able to get 53 minutes down to below 4GB.

Re: Adobe 6.5 exporting time line as movie

Thank you for your response. I think I do have the 32 bit version of XP. You suggested that I try saving as XVid or reducing some of the AVI quality settings. I actually have not been able to figure out how to do either of these suggestions. Any additional help on the suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't use Adobe Premiere, so I can't give any specific advice. Hang on for some more replies. We have a few members who know about video editing.

There should be some options when you render or save the video that allow you to choose the video format, bitrate, audio quality, etc. Do you still have the Premiere manual?

Re: Adobe 6.5 exporting time line as movie

I no longer have Premiere 6.5 (I'm only using Premiere Elements 7 now) so bear with me if things are in different places.
When you go to File > Export > Movie you should have a screen that has a button marked "Settings", go into that and choose Microsoft AVI from the drop down menu, then go to Video tab and choose the codec for compression as Xvid if you have that installed on your computer - this will decrease the size of your file considerably - eg. a file exported as an mpeg file of 100MB comes down to 65MB using this even with bitrate set to 4854kbps - highest in "Configure Settings" button. Lower the bitrate if you want further compression - be aware that the lower the bitrate the lower the quality of your video.
If you don't have Xvid and want a range of codecs to choose from for the future - download & install the full K-Lite codec pack from link in my signature area.
As a general rule - leave the audio settings to "same as project" or 4800KHz @ 192kbps (or above if offered) - the reason for this is that audio takes up such a small amount of file space compared to video that you may as well have good quality audio with your video.
