Win Avi converting MPEG4 to DVD

Hi I have a MPEG4 movie clip that I would like to convert to DVD. I am using WinAvi V6.2. I can convert all other formats such as Divx Xvid etc. I have tried codecs such as Cole 2k but they don't seem to work it tells me Microsft has encountered a problem with WinAvi and closes down. I have Real Player Gold and latest QuickTime installed. Can someone point me in the direction for a codec or anything that will work with v6.2 to convert Mpeg4's please.
