So what is the easiest way to be able to put the memory card from both my cameras into my computer and have the files read into my pictures for quick time and movie maker. Obviously I need this is plain English for someone who doesn't computers. know much about

The best way would be a card reader. If your computer is fairly new, it may have an onboard (built-in) card reader, usually found on the front of the case. Look for a group of funny-looking slots. If your computer does not have one, a peripheral (external) card reader can be purchased fairly inexpensively from your local computer shop.

Re: Imagemixer3 se mpeg2 to quicktime
For the hardware part, do as the above poster said. If you have a favorite store, just look for a USB card reader. Here's some hits on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...reader&x=0&y=0 And be sure to read the specs to make sure it reads the card you have! As for editing - you mean you use QuickTime Pro right? Regular QuickTime doesn't have editing capabilities. One thing to keep in mind: if your source is MPEG-2, you'll probably need additional plug-ins for QuickTime to read them. You can buy the QuickTime MPEG-2 component for a small fee ($20 now I think). Alternately, you could use a third party program to convert your MPEG-2 file to something QuickTime Pro can read. If you're on a Mac, try MPEG StreamClip: http://www.squared5.com/. If you're on a PC, try VirtualDub-MPEG-2 (be sure to click video, compression and pick a codec, otherwise it will create HUGE uncompressed output), or use whatever program came with your camera to convert to a format readable by QT. |
