Hi all
![]() First post here so forgive me if this has been covered already. My HP makes a lot of 'whirring' noise when im working in Photoshop and when i try to watch a movie online (especially if i expand to full screen) it sounds like its about to take off!! I have cleaned the fan as it was dirty but im still not sure if its the hard drive or the fans making the noise. I think my PC settings are set to go into overdrive when certain tasks are being carried out as its sounds like it working much harder than it sould when im erasing a background for example.....any help would be appreciated! |

Re: Noisy PC
can you post the pc specs. if you are not sure you can use pcwizard to give that info. can you tell us the make and power of the PSU as well? pcwizard will tell you the temperatures of different components, can you post back with those.
has this always made these noises or is this a new phenomenon? if the pc is idle does it make this noise at any stage? how many fans are placed inside the case?

Re: Noisy PC
This doesn't sound like HDD noise, your issue is with your fans. An easy way to test which fan is making noise is to stop each one in turn with your finger.
If it is the power supply fan, seek professional advice. Any other fan is easily user-replaceable. All you need is a fan the same size and maybe a tube of Arctic Silver 5 if you want a heatsink.
