learning 3dmax

hi,
As you know i am a beginner in 3dmax and i am learning 3d from internet with the help of tutorials because i am not attending any class. There are categories of tut. i.e modeling,lighting,material etc so i want toknow that
which category should i start first write the sequence pleazzzzzzzzz

modelling would have to be a first. there is no point in knowing about materials/lighting if you don't have anything to render.
while materials and lighting are 2 separate area's they are intertwined. quite often they are also heavily influenced by the render engine being used.
  • modeling
  • materials
  • lighting/rendering
  • animation

keep in mind that it's not always this simple. as technology changes, you'll find yourself revisiting these areas all the time.
also you'll find you approach a scene differently once you know how far you will be taking it. you will build most models differently if they are for static or animated.
