Annoying problem when viewng on-line Videos
I don't know if anybody else has run into this problem, but I have. When watching videos on-line, (I think it's called streaming), on practically all video sites (Google video, Youtube, etc...) some of the videos play for a few seconds, then stop, then start again, then stop, then start, then stop, then start and basically keep stopping and starting all the way to the end. ITS SO ANNOYING! It's even happened to some of my videos I uploaded. Is this a virus? If so how do I remove it? My anti-virus says my computer is clean, but I know some scanners cant detect them all.
By the way, I know I've been posting a lot recently, but I have a lot of computers problems over the years and when I found this site, I found it's a great place where I can get answers. |

Re: Annoying problem when viewng on-line Videos
More than likely a network/internet speed issue, Try this link to measure your download speed http://www.speedtest.net/ post back with the results

Re: Annoying problem when viewng on-line Videos
This is most likely your internet connection being a little slow. When videos are streamed to your computer they are downloading as they play - if your connection is not fast enough the video is trying to play faster than it can download and so it stops for a while then starts when it has enough buffered to go again. You should see a little bar at the bottom of your player with two colour strips in it. One is the amount downloaded the other where you are up to in the video. If the one that shows where you are up to is moving faster than the other you will need to pause it.Try starting the video then pausing it for a while (giving it time to download) then come back to it and play it through. If you are using a tabbed browser you can open multiple tabs - each with a video downloading and just go back through them as they finish downloading and start playing.
Hope this helps and isn't too basic and patronising - i don't know your level of experience |
