Re: Request for help with video software ! Please respond,Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

we need more information -
what are you trying to do?
how big is the file you are working with?
what do you want to do with the finished video?
how big/small does your finished file have to be?
or are you making this into a DVD?
answers to these will determine things like file format and compression methods used to achieve your desired output.

Re: Request for help with video software ! Please respond,Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to create a clip from a video that I have downloaded and converted from youtube to WMV format !
The size of the file is 20.9 MB I want to insert the clip into a WMV format video That I created using Windows Movie Maker ! The reason, I'm guessing that I couldn't do this with Windows movie Maker was because of the large size of the video file. I want the video dimensions to be 320x 240 ! I want the finished spilit video to be 16 seconds long !

Hope this info helps ! Please lemme know !

Thank you !

Re: Request for help with video software ! Please respond,Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

You could try Virtual dub http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ (it is freeware) if Windows Movie maker is not working with this clip you have.
How big (in MB)is the existing movie you have that you want to insert this clip into?
Can you play the clip in windows Moviemaker by itself? (open a new project and import it to see)
Whatever video editing program you end up using you should be able to import your clip in and edit it into your existing movie then export the finished movie at the size you want by using the settings menus that will come up when you finalise your movie.
hope this helps

Re: Request for help with video software ! Please respond,Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

I use Windows Movie Maker on WMV files that are over 300mb, so it can easily handle a 20mb file.

If it's a WMV that you converted from youtube to insert into another WMV, they might be different versions of the codec, different dimensions or have some sort of incompatibility. Which youtube converter did you use?

Re: Request for help with video software ! Please respond,Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

I have downloaded VirtualDub but cannot open my video in that program ! It said that I needed a VFW codec ! So I downloaded the MSU Lossless Video Codec version o.6.o my computer also gave me these numbers as the file version of this program 6.0.2600.0 !
However this codec isn't working ! Can u recommend another VFW codec that is compatible with VirtualDub 1.8.1 that I can download for free !

Thanks !

Amanda

Install the full KLite Codec Pack, then reboot. It contains all the latest codecs for 99% of known media files, including several for VFW, allowing you to view and edit these files in any media player/editor.

From the KLite Codecs List:
Quote:
• VFW video codecs:
- XviD [version 1.2.0-dev build 2007-07-25]
- DivX Pro [version 6.8.2.6]
- x264 [revision 721bm]
- On2 VP6 [version 6.4.2.0]
- On2 VP7 [version 7.0.10.0]
- Intel Indeo 4 [version 4.51.16.2]
- Intel Indeo 5 [version 5.2562.15.54]
- Intel I.263 [version 2.55.1.16]
- huffyuv [version 2.1.1 CCE Patch 0.2.5]
- I420 (Helix) [version 1.2]
- YV12 (Helix) [version 1.2]
