Picasa 2 Buffer overrun detected?

Hi. I'm posting for the first time and would appreciate any help that people can give. I recently downloaded Picasa 2 from google because I wanted something that would compress images easily. However, whenever I try to run the software it says
"Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:/Program Files/ Picasa2/Picasa2.exe

A Buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."

I really don't know what is wrong and what I can do to get the whole thing to work normally! Can anyone help me????

Would be grateful for any guidance...

it's hard to know that the answer is here, but have a read and see does anything help.
