Dropping frames while capturing

I am trying to copy my VHS tapes to DVD.I am using a Dazzle 90 unit to connect the VHS player to my laptop.While doing this ive noticed alot of dropped frames.Ive searched the web for help and tried a bunch of things with no success.Any help????
By the way my laptop is running VISTA
Also 2GB of RAM
Dual Core Athlon 1.7 GHZ

If the hardware uses a USB connection this may be the problem - can you connect using firewire?

The Dazzle DVC90 is only USB.Mylaptop does support firewire.Are there any converters for USB to firewire

There are but they may not solve the problem - they will only allow you to connect a usb device into a firewire port (or vice versa). They don't change the way the information is transferred which is more your problem.
You may find there are settings within your Dazzle interface that allow you to control speed vs quality of capture - if so try slowing your capture speed and lean towards higher quality.
Sorry - I am not familiar with the Dazzle unit's workings so I can only make suggestions - maybe someone who has used Dazzle can come on board?

Thanx for the help anyway,,I will try adjusting the settings to see if that makes any difference....
