I have a project that involves over 900 pictures to be scanned, and I have experienced an odd issue on two different Epson scanners.
The pictures are loaded at a 90° angle (flush to one of the sides), but when the scanner loads the preview img, is shows it at some 30° angle, and it scans that way, too. Then I rotate the picture 90°, and that typically fixes it... but I am confused as to what is causing the scanners to think it is placed in there at some odd angle. As I said, I have experienced this on an Epson 2480 and an Epson 3200. Thanks for any [legit] response! Last edited by freddyhard : 04-13-2008 at 05:13 AM. Reason: spam |

Re: Epson Scanners - rotated images?
i'd update the drivers for the scanner or at the very least uninstall/re-install the current ones.

Re: Epson Scanners - rotated images?
Freddy:
Thanks for your response. Actually, that has already been done. As for the 3200 at work, I used to have XP on an old and clunky HP, but I recently upgraded to a new machine with Vista and the issue is still occurring. And if I may ask, how is this spam? --> EDIT: REMOVED IMAGE & LINK. SPAM. DON'T POST IT AGAIN. I am not trying to send visitors off to some stupid Web page loaded with viruses and spam bots, etc. If you want to see if my original mssg is true spam, copy/paste it to google and give it a shot. ![]() Last edited by koala : 04-14-2008 at 04:53 AM. |

Re: Epson Scanners - rotated images?
i'm uncertain how you get the same error on 2 different scanners on 2 different PC's, unless i've misread something. you said that they preview and scan at 30° but when you rotate them 90° it corrects them. so they do not turn 120°?
but as for your link this is a part of the forum rules. Quote:

Yeah, that is what totally baffles me. I don't see how rotating the picture fixes it, but it does. And I have experienced a few pictures where I need to do multiple scans/rotations to get them to display/scan properly.
I guess I need to call 800-Epson? ![]() |

Re: Epson Scanners - rotated images?
i cannot see that it is a physical error - like a bad data cable, because it is too precise every time. you can use the likes of irfanview to do batch operations such as rotations, but it would be better to have the software sorted in case the errors develops to something worse.

Re: Epson Scanners - rotated images?
irfanview has the ability to select twain devices and do batch scanning, but not that i've done a lot of scanning the past, the software invariable uses the driver software to access the scanner. you can try it and see - i don't have my scanner here with me to try.

I called Epson discussed the issue with tech support. By the end of it, he said it sounds like an issue with the scanner overheating and that I need to turn it off for 15 minutes to let it cool down when it messes up.
The ironic thing is that immediately after I hung up—the issue did not happen while on the phone—the issue happened again. But I went ahead and turned it off for about five minutes, and it worked great afterwards. I guess you can consider this "solved." ![]() |
