Sony Vegas 7.03 (Build 216) Alt-Tab problem

Not sure if this is a problem with just my computer, but whenever I use Sony Vegas 7.0e (build 216) and switch applications, it either takes 4 minutes to run properly again, or just freezes completely.

The weird thing is, if i play my video, then switch applications, it loads up again like normal.

Any help appreciated

how much RAM does your system have?
you could increase your virtual memory and defrag the HD.

Re: Sony Vegas 7.03 (Build 216) Alt-Tab problem

I have Pentium 4 3.2GHz (single core) 2GB Ram.

Its always happened like this though, its just really confusing and annoying.

If i play it (not on loop) and it stops when it gets to the end, the program is as it is if i haven't played it, and goes back into it normally.

I will try defrag, but I know people who have worse computers who have the same program and it works fine on theirs........

i know a HD needs to be in a poor state before defraging helps. how big is the video clip you are trying to edit? with 2GB of RAM increasing the virtual memory might not help much, but its also depending on the size of the video.
it could be an issue with a codec, so you can download k-lite and install the full pack which can correct broken codecs as well.

No issue with codec's, i've got every codec imaginable. It's usually alright for when the video clip is short, but I make soccer videos, so when its about 2 mins long containing 5 different clips thats when it starts playing up.

Re: Sony Vegas 7.03 (Build 216) Alt-Tab problem

unfortunately i don't use vegas or even do much video editing. i cannot be of much help. i just re-noticed that you had ALT-TAB on the title and i think this could be virtual memory issues. i gave a link above to check\increase this if you need.

when vegas is running open the task manager (right click on the task bar) and view the performance tab. it will show you if the CPU is in use and how much memory is being used. view the processes tab to see what application is using the CPU if it is flat out. you can leave it running in the background and use it for observations.

i supposed you've tried the proverbial re-install of vegas?

Yes of course.

Its not a real problem as such, its just an annoyance. But thanks for trying to help anyway
