Checking images for greyscale
I have scanned about 300 images for a book...the publisher requires that all pictures be in greyscale, so now that the images are in my pictures file, how do i check and make sure they are all greyscale? i have left clicked the images and gone to properties and this has only given me picture width/picture height/pixels and file size of the photo...when scanning the images i used Gimp 2.2 and clicked the greyscale..but i want to spot check some of these images and make sure i got the right button...thanks.

Re: Checking images for greyscale
just view the folder in thumbnail mode. or use something like irfanview to view as thumbnails. irfanview can also do a batch conversion saving to greyscale if there are coloured images.

Re: Checking images for greyscale
i'm not quite sure what you are clicking on. what i meant was to view the folder they are in using a thumbnail view. so using windows explorer open the folder and click on view>thumbnails. there you will see a thumbnail of all the grapic images (that windows can recognise) and it will be obvious if any of them are in colour.
but irfanview does work with .tif files. unless the files have been saved in a gimp format?

Re: Checking images for greyscale
The photos scanned are all black and white...when you go into gimp 2.2 you can select images and the mode...i should select greyscale for the mode, but i am not sure i did on every photo...so what i am trying to do is spot check 6 folders for 6 different chapters..i should have been more clear....Thanks for all your answers and help......i don't know that if i missed selecting the mode that the photos would default to greyscale or not...guess this is what i am trying to find out...........
