Free high resolotution on the web...

Dear all,

As I'm a new graphic designer I have many trouble about finding the hi res photos for free as now I don't have any credit card or visa card to buy all those Photos yet. Could any body suggest me how to get the hi res photos or the web address that can lead me to my purpose.

Most of the hi-res stuff I've seen is either formally copyrighted or use by permission only (informal copyright claimed based on publication in a proprietary site). For instance, as webmaster for a unit in a non-profit organization, I can't afford to formally copyright every picture of our events that I post. However, if I find that someone has downloaded one of the pictures from our site and used it without asking permission, I can send the information to the parent corporation and their lawyers could choose to enforce the copyright.

If you see a photo you want to use, e-mail a request to the webmaster of that site and let them know what you want to use the image for and ask permission. If they give permission, limit your use of that image to the use requested. If you want to use that same image for anything else, ask permission for the new use.

If you anticipate earning money from the use of the image, be prepared to pay a fee.

Once you take a photo, isnt it automatically copyrighted to the author? Here at TSF, the posts are copyrighted.

Different countries have different copyright laws. The main thing is proof of predating ownership. With written materials, this requires formal copyright, proof of publication, or "poor man's copyright" (where you send a copy of the material to yourself via certified law and don't open it when you receive it. the postmark becomes your copyright).
