Images shrink when posted
I originally thought the following problem was blogger related but I have since had the issue elswhere.
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that when I would either enter the html code for a picture/link or drag one into my blog post that it would shrink down a bit upon publishing it. And if I were to open the post to edit or do nothing the picture (s) would shrink down even more as soon as I opened the post. If it were just a few pictures I would simply adjust the code to enlarge the picture again, however if you look at my blog I have many pictures within each post making it a ton of work. I have since stopped updating my blog. I have been posting for help on the blogger forums for weeks with no success. I just now noticed that when I dragged a picture link to another forum for posting that the picture automatically shrank as soon as it got into the post body. Here is the post with the picture , and here is where a pulled the picture from (my blog) . The picture in my blog is 216px x 162px and when I posted it in the Investor Village forum it is now 158 x 118px. This is happening on both my laptop and desktop. I am using firefox 2.0.0.4 Windows XP Pro Any ideas what can be causing this is greatly appreciated. I am coming unglued! Cheers, CH |

Re: Images shrink when posted
@ cliffhucker: what are the real dimensions of the picture? It could be that on your and the other blog the pictures are being resized depending on settings...

Again, this is happening to all my images. The image I used in my example in my original post is this image hosted here. This original here hosted at Imageshack is 240 180 pixels. I have this picture used as a link at my blog here.Sorry , you have to scroll down to find the picture. At my blog the image is still 240x 180 pixels. However lately if I was to go to edit the post that has that picture in my blog it would shrink down a size. ( I am hesitant to edit anything because of all the pictures I have within each post) But I did take this picture (from my blog) and drag it into another forum post here and the picture shrank down a notch to 175 x 131 pixels. I do not know if it is possible something within the code of my blog? or not. But it did not do this until recently, before I had no problems for months. Thanks for any help. |

Re: Images shrink when posted
@ cliffhucker: I think my guess would be that something has changed recently in the CSS-file of your blog. I was not able to determine exactly what, but I suggest contacting the person who made the CSS/(X)HTML to ask what is happening.
Have you tried uploading the image not from imageshack but from your server directly? Does this make a difference? In the other forum, I supect that they have set a maximum of file or picture size to prevent the forum becoming slow.

It does not matter if I drag a photo from my blog to another forum post or vice versa. or if i draga photo from a random web page into a forum post body, the image always shrinks when it lands. I am going to try with IE and see if it is a firefox thing next. thanks for the reply.

Re: Images shrink when posted
It might be a firefox thing. I cannot drag a picture from the web into a post like I usually do when using IE.
?? I have the issue on both my systems and they have different versions of FF running? Maybe it is an add on? |

Re: Images shrink when posted
@ cliffhucker: I really have no answer for you. I never experienced this or seen this before. But what might give a clue is the fact that the picture in the links of post #3 are renamed to 'http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/9271/ resizewizard1qk6.jpg'. That is strange.... I can't imagine that this was the original file name.
Was the picture before you uploaded it bigger then 1.0-1.5 Mb in size? Have you tried another hoster to host the images, for example tinypic.com? Does the same thing happen? About FF, I have no clue if this or an add-on would be problem... Anyway, it is strange. If all not works, contact the people of the blogs & imageshack and ask them the same question you did here. Maybe they know...

The "resizewizard" is just the name that photoshop gives a photo when I resize it. Most photos I do not resize w/ photo shop. I tried different hosters and again, it is not the blog, I find this happening in other post forums. I continue to search the answer. Thanks for trying, if any other ideas come to mind let me know. Thanks CH |
