I need to work with a dvd file I got from Pulse, it's my movie so I ripped it, and the file it's in (it says MPEG) it doesn't say -1 or -2, or -4. I tried everything, but the converters were really bad quality and only converted about half of it, filming the entire screen with Windows media encoder, but when I wanted to look at it, it was blank, and I tried actually encoding it with windows media encoder, I also tried working with a few movie editing programs, none of which will work with MPEG, PLEASE I DESPERATELY NEED HELP!

Re: MPEG issues
as posted above, autoGK should convert the dvd files to avi at a good enough quality. you can then use virtualdub to edit the clip.

Re: MPEG issues
i'm not quite sure what you have converted to what exactly. i thought you were going to use autoGK to convert the dvd files to avi, since the mpeg was poor and only half of it was converted.
what do you want to do with the WMV file? dvdsanta can convert WMV files to dvd format, but i don't think that is what you want to do. does virtualdub not open the WMV file?

Re: MPEG issues
ok, well the autogk does convert the MPEG's to AVI, and the AVI plays just fine in every player, but when I put it in the windows movie maker, it still plays fine, but when I put the file in the timeline, and play it, it only has audio, and no video.

Re: MPEG issues
WMM is strictly XP and i refuse to use XP. so i've never looked at WMM, but i've used virtualdub with good success in editing AVI clips.

Re: MPEG issues
isnt virtua dub mainly just for converting, and doesn't have a lot of editing tools, I need to make a trailer for this movie, basically cut, rearrange parts of the movie, and record my voice over some parts

Re: MPEG issues
no virtualdub lets you edit it with filters. i've only ever used it for clipping out segments and cropping avi clips though. i do very little video editing.

Re: MPEG issues
ok I found Video Edit Magic, it seems to work great, but one thing is, it has a tag on it because its the unregistered version, I know software stealing isnt a thing here, but GOD thats annoying

Re: MPEG issues
at $70 that's ok. i remember buying paint shop pro4 back in the olden days. i upgraded to 5 and then 6. although we use PS7 here in the office i still find myself using psp6 on occasion, so i think it was money well spent.
