flash to avi or wmv converter

Can anyone recommend or point to a decent(basic) free software which will convert a downloaded .swf - flash file to an .avi or .wmv file?

Thanks

Flash files can only be output to video files using the Flash authoring software.

Did you realise that Macromedia Flash itself (I wonder is it called Adobe Flash yet? :P) allows you to export to .avi? But if it is a downloaded file, then you most likely didn't make it yourself. Try a program called WinAVI Video Converter. This will allow you to convert many-to-many video formats inc. avi to swf and visa-versa.

NB: Make sure you have permission from the copyright holder to convert the original file and distribute it...don't want to get in trouble now do you? :D

There are many similar programs available from download DOT com if you are unable to obtain a copy of WinAVI VC.

Thanks for your testimonial colourain...you wouldn't happen to be a winavi salesman would you :p. Yes winavi is a very effective piece of kit.

Heres one

I found a site using google. Its called topshareware.com there are tons of free downloads in there ironically I was looking for the same thing you were and before I came here for advice I found it. IT is called flash-to-video-converter-pro. I downloaded it and it seems to work really well. There are some settings to mess with so you can make a file size that you need but its pretty basic and very user friendly.

Try also *****. It's possible to convert swf to AVI, ASF or MP4 (and able to convert flash files to MP4 media content for mobile devices!). Also it has audio conversion support . :)
All in all it's the best prog I've ever used. But it has one minus - it costs :( But in my opinion it worth this money.
Good luck!

Super Converter is my favourite, it converts just about anything [including flash(.flv)] into almost any codec. u can download it at http://files6.majorgeeks.com/files/0...supersetup.exe
