What video editing software do you recomend?
I'm trying to make my own indie films, but so far I don't have a good video editor.
I'm looking for something that supports miniDV (digital), runs on a PC, has a fairly good set of features along with it, and hopefully won't cost hundreds of dollars! So what do you guys suggest? I have tried Premire Pro 1.5, and I like it's ease of use, but some of it's exporting features and stuff don't seem to be all that great, which is why I've turned to Virtual Dub Mod to compress my stuff. However, I don't much like the editing features of this program, and it doesn't really have many effects with it (but it's free!). So what do you guys recomend? Edit: I saw in another thread that someone recomended Avid. I've heard about this, but is it any good? Also, I forgot to ask, is Premire Pro 2.0 much better than 1.5? For the costly stuff, I have used Pinnacle Studio in school, and used the beta at home with little success (because my tuner's drivers were written by a moron).
I thought pinnacle was a very powerful program. Some of the audio in version 7 (not sure if this was changed) had to be gone about in a duct tape sort of way- meaning for a backing musical track, I had to use one meant for something else, etc... just the little things like that. Still, it had a lot of encoding options, plenty of AV functions, fadeouts, titles of all shapes and sizes, and a bunch of effects- some useful, others more along the lines of novelty. Hope this helps.

exept "everybodys known" tools i would like to recommend a simple video editor which has a cute features for publishing a video. Its Presentavid tool. Its a 32-bit aditor, its not much a complete editor, but some features could be accepted. Its cost 99$ (it has now 50% off) AND has a completely free trial version (no time limited and fully functinal), so its worth to try.
G luck! |

I've just started using Magix Movie Edit Pro 11
It gets mixed reviews, some excellent and some pointing out a few minor problems. $50 to buy, or trial version from http://www.sofotex.com/MAGIX-Movie-E...ad_L42543.html

well.. i've been using Adobe for quite some time! and the newest version(Premiere Pro 2) is very nice. I have been using them from back in Premiere 6. and a long the way the features and the software have gotten better. Now at school, the video productions class uses Vegas Video(which i don't really care for as much). Which i believe has the mini dv support and device control(very important) because most people i know hate having to sit there and rewind on the camera and such. but when you have the digital cameras. the computer see's it and controls it from within the software. Premiere is very good. you can organize you objects from within the software, and with a small audio mixer in it... its great! and when your looking for to the frame audio/video syncing.. just expand the timeline.. and your set! now im not saying go and get the most expensive one(pro 2) but something like 1.5 should do.. and if your a student, journeyed.com is a great place to get your softwares for a discounted price! you'd be surprised at the deals they have!
well.. hats m opinion.. Adobe! Last edited by Quicksilver8478; 07-22-2006 at 10:14 PM. |
