Since this isn't a digital system you'll need a basic TV tuner card that has a composite (usually yellow) for connecting to the camera.

You don't have to have a tv tuner card. You can use a video capture device that plugs into a USB port. Here's some pcmag stuff on them:

well.. you could do as some others do... some people use their digital video cameras.. that supports RCA In. and thn USB stream it to the computer so you use the camera more then just fo taping but taking older tapes and making them digital. or as others have suggested, using a video capture device. pluging into your computer through USB but i have a media card, so any analog video can be captured through RCA, S-Video, or TV Tuner.. good stuff! there's a bunch f ways to aproach this.. you just need to look and chose.

You may run into the same problem as I did, where by when changing VHS to digital, the sound messes up. Noone manged to help me with the problem, as I don't think there is really a solution...

Hi, some camcorder, if you got it new comes with cables, a usb or firewire maybe, it also has a software packed with it that you can use. Install first the software and connect your camera in to your usb or firewire. Hope it will help

I think in a lot of cases the investment of a DV compatible camera is well worth it. In my experience, going from VHS to a capture card yields very disappointing results, and isn't a practical solution in the long run.
