Angry Illustrator CS2 hates me

Really stupid problems with Illustrator CS2.

I recently installed it, before I had CS... and for some reason it freezes when I try to change my preferences.

Also, about 50% of the time, it tells me that it "cannot complete the requested operation" when it finishes starting up, then it closes. But that was a recent problem I had with both CS and CS2.

Is there any way to fix this, or am I just going to have to deal with it?

My System

Make sure Illustrator is not running, then delete the preferences file and allow Illustrator to create a new one next time it starts. It's a hidden file called AIPREFS (so you'll need to enable 'Show hidden files and folders' in Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab) and it should be in
Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator
or you can do a search for it.

The "cannot complete the requested operation" error is sometimes caused by one or more corrupt fonts. Try removing any foreign or weird symbol fonts first, then remove any fonts starting with WP.
