Unique id per element?
Hi
I've got absolutely no experience with AutoCAD. I am a Delphi programmer, that got to display a .dwg drawing in a delphi program. That I can do already. I can also click on an element and display its properties. As you would do in AutoCad. What I would like to know is it possible to give each element in a drawing an unique number/name. I know it is possible to give a level an unique name, but can this be done for per element? I use AutoCad 2006. Hope to hear from you soon! Karen |

all objects in autocad have unique handles. if you 'list' any object you'll see a handle in there on the entity. but i don't know that you can specify a handle or rename it.
tell me me more about the display process or what you are doing to the dwg file to display it. keep in mind i'm not a programmer - while i'm not totally ignorant to programming, but know as little i may as well be.
