Cyclic Redundancy Error

What does this mean? I try to burn a dvd using Nero software and I get this. I would like to burn and edit using Pinnacle Studio version 9 but haven't tried it yet, any help or links to where I can get help would be appreciated. Thanks for all your time and assistance, I am grateful.

it could be the dvd discs are a poor quality, so try another brand.
the firmware on the burner might need to be updated.
