Question [SOLVED] what type of image?

heya :) id just like to ask what tipe should images be (those images wich are part of website...header, menu images, footer....)?
i mean...jpeg, gif, png...what is best and why?

For images that use less than 256 colors (simple things like banners and buttons), use gif or jpg. gifs can also be used for simple animations.

For more complicated images like color photographs, use jpg or png. png allows you to use transparency, so you can overlay images or see the background through them if required.

jpgs are usually smaller in file-size than pngs, which is why jpg is the most common format used for web pages.

aha thanks for nice anwser so i will use gif as a format for website parts (header, footer, meni elements....).
