Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

Many say yes, but this leads me to ask: why do F1 drivers retire so early, even earlier than many other professional athletes? I know it requires immense physical ability, but so does NASCAR and Indycar and their drivers last so much longer. Anyway, do you think Barrichello should call it a career, after 16 seasons of better-than-decent-but-never-exceptional performance?

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

In Short. YES.
I've always liked Rubens but he might be getting to old.

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

I personally think he should last as long as he can. Maybe 2 or 3 more years with Honda, or any other team, will bring about some good things.

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

I see your point. Perhaps a stint with one of the other teams might be what he needs.
I'll still be sad to see him go though.

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

Hmm... maybe if he retires he can get a ride in NASCAR. But he has already confirmed that he was going to retire from racing entirely if he can't secure a drive for 2009. Which sucks, I think, since he still can put up decent performances and should stay for as long as he can.

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

Seeing Rubens in NASCAR would be quite cool !
I'd pay to see that. Let's just hope he gets a new team for '09.

Re: Should Rubens Barrichello Retire?

I asked myself the same question when Hakinnen and Schumacher decided respectively to retire some years ago. I still think they were still capable of wining some races , but unfortunately we will never know.
