NFL:Boston papers are saying someone is bound to take a cheap shot at Brady

Now the Boston papers are saying it too: if the Patriots keep running up the score, someone is bound to take a cheap shot at Brady (War on terrorism starts in our backyard), the Patriots are asked to play hard only for 2 quarters , then slow a little and let the other team comes back in 3rd and 4th quarter to stay Classy .

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/f...icleid=1041584

If Real madrid or Juventus or Manchester United start winning by 3 goals difference in every game , the defense will break Ronaldinho/Rooneys leg in the near future .Terrorism has a bright Future !
It's professional sports, not Pop Warner, there is no mercy rule. It's business. If a team can't stop another team from scoring, instead of crying about running up the score, announce you're forfeiting the rest of the season and go practice.

Re: NFL:Boston papers are saying someone is bound to take a cheap shot at Brady

When a team has no chance to come back they get frustrated, especially massive crazy nfl players. I think it is good to continue playing hard and improving your chemistry, but it is true someone is bound to get hurt for doing it and it will be Brady.

You can block a quaterback as long as it's done within the rules. Exploiting a weakness in a player and trying to hurt a player are two very different motivations.
Here is a famous exemple why you should NOT give up and keep playing 100% for 4 Quarters in ALL football game , Patriots blew a 21-3 lead in the AFC championship last year , and lost 38-34 (my hat off to the Colts).

I will sum it up like this :

Defensive Coordinator: "Hey, Patriots....sorry to bug you but, as you can see, we're not very good. Since we're not able to play well, could your offense start intentionally sucking? In other words, we can't stop you, so can you help us to stop you?"

Patriots: "GBTW" as Go back to work .

It is an established part of soccer to NOT run up the score. It is after all a gentleman's game. (So much so that years ago the catch all foul - used when nothing else applied but the ref didn't like what he saw - was called "Ungentlemanly conduct". It's now called "unsporting" ) All coaches are taught that after the score gets to the point when the opponents no longer have any chance of winning - to reign in the players. We use such things a "There has to be 10 consecutive passes before any attempt on goal". Or, "Every player has to have a touch before an attempt."

So the question remains, why is Brady still in the game midway through the 4th quarter when the team is up by 30+???

In CT they passed a rule that says if a team wins by more than 50 points - the coach is suspended one game. If he's done everything he can to avoid it - the appeals committee can remove the suspension.

Isn't the PRO sport about record and performance ?
49 is a number to be beat this year (most TD thrown in single year)

exemple :
A guy trying to beat the 1500m world record (athletics)
are you telling me that the athlet should slow down and not beat the record because his oponents can not follow that guy in the race?
He has to slow down in order to not embarass the rest of the competitors .

Classy runner .

I really don't know about all this classy funny rule .

Re: NFL:Boston papers are saying someone is bound to take a cheap shot at Brady

There's a big difference between winning and deliberately trying to humiliate your opponent.

We're way to hung-up on records and stats. I get so very tired watching a football game and having the announcers come on and say: Romo has a streak of 343 passes without one being tipped by the left defensive end when his team is up by 21 or more that's the longest streak since Bobby Bethard had 302 back in 62 but of course players were shorter then..... On the right side the tackle has tipped two this game extending his run of 7 games where he used his left hand to tip a pass from a quarterback taller than 6'2" but if you look, he's only done it twice to quarterbacks who run the 40 in 5 sec or less and the game's being played south of the Mason-Dixon line at night with a slight breeze and less than 2 inches of rain in the previous 24 hours.

Mimo, I agree that an offenses job is to put points on the board (personally I hope that Brady breaks Mannings record. It's good to finally see him have alot of weapons at receiver). That said, going for it on 4th down, up by a ton, and in field goal range is just wrong. Other than that, I don't have a problem with what they're doing. The O is paid to points on the board, and should try to each time they're on the field.

Just my 2 cents.

But, Matt Cassel has thrown TDs as well as Brady. Of course, the papers are just offering up an excuse for when it happens.

Mattlock can attest to this, in 1968, Ohio State score late to go up 48-10 on Michigan. They went for 2 and got it, the final score was 50-14. When asked why he went for 2, OSU coach, Woody Hayes said "cause I couldn't go for 3."

Cassel only has 1 TD (rushing against Washington) this year and a whopping 28 yds passing.

That's different Bry, it was against that team up north.

BTW, it's 12:18pm and Michigan still sucks.

Of course he's trying to run up the score, the coach on the other team is trying to do the same thing. It's not the coaches job to stop putting points on the board, that's the defense's job. This is the pros,

Players smoke weed, drive drunk, fight dogs, and rack up the points!

But during the off season, they work together to help strengthen America's communities. clicky

Re: NFL:Boston papers are saying someone is bound to take a cheap shot at Brady

So it's OK when HS and MS coaches heck even Pee Wee coaches do the same? Personally I was discussed enough last year to write to the local newspaper about one of the local teams running up the score against my daughter's basketball team - he kept is All-State player in with 3 minutes to go when they were up by 30 - and called two plays to get her 3 point shots. I booed from the stands!!! (Not that the coach gave a damn.) If one of our girls had cleaned her clock I would have said "She should not have done that" while at the same time thinking "way to go".

Last year , there was a team with 8 to 10 players that had problems with the Law in the same year and same team !

The offenses ranged from assault, drugs and driving, guns with no licences , etc etc etc, it looked closer to Scarface movie than a Football team.
Incredible .

Good one yustr.

In that situation as a basketball coach, I would triple team her. In soccer, I'd give have my son do a hard slide, in baseball, we'd beam her!

I ve never heard a complain about why roger federer or the Williams sisters wining a wimbledon or roland garros game by 6-0,6-1,6-0 .

Whats the fuss ? Never heard such a thing about complaining about the score , this is life , there is a winner and a loser ,and when you lose , you just go back to work (train harder), there is no shame about it .
