Free Security Software for browser
I will be starting an Ebay store on line with my pc. What can i do to prevent my kids from going into sites that could jeopardize my pc from all the malware, virus, and stuff?

Re: Free Security Software for browser
I believe Spybot S&D has an inbuilt browser protectory thing, and you can use the "immunize" function to keep you from accessing sites that could damage your pc.... I'll research a minute because i've used a few...
okay: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fo...d_x/index.html That is a link to zonealarm's forcefield software, right now (and for a while) it's been a beta but the idea is that it protects your browser etc. Take a look at it you may be interested, as it's in its beta stage it's free. Alternatively you could use: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Spybot S&D. Alternatively you could just use a half decent firewall: http://www.comodo.com/ (i use Spybot and Comodo but comodo as a firewall and spybot as an antimalware scanner) It really depends on what sort of protection you want. What browser do you have? I strongly suggest checking out a nice firewall and a nice piece of antimalware software... Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Free Security Software for browser
Thanks Jamie,
I use FireFox. And i will definitely try your recommendations. I just don't want my kids to go on Myspace, Facebook, and adult sites and even downloading stuff from the internet that can corrupt my business PC. thanks again. |

Re: Free Security Software for browser
You may find some firefox extensions with parental controls on them, i'm sure i've set one up before...
ah Glubble is what i used before: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5881 But it kinda takes over firefox, which may be a good thing. A few others that look good are: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145 Blocksite and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4351 FoxFilter... I think with these it would be adviseable to block all files with a .zip/exe/dll/etc[probably anything other than html/shtml/htm...] extension and so on... then your kids cant download anything that can harm your pc Cheers, Jamey |
