based on the reasons I've heard from "swing voters" as to why they vote for who I'd say he's right. I heard one guy say he was leaning towards bush because he was a "man's man" . How is Bush a mans man and war crime Kerry not? Just because Connecticut native Bush likes to dress up and play cowboy for vacation doesn't make him a mans man.

Hi,

Obviously, someone with some common sense wrote that bit of advice. I think the point is right on.

I agree. Not because she's a woman. Not because she's a liberal. But mostly because she's been way too vilified to have any chance in the current sound-bite-rules-all climate.

When people are not able to see past the spin and lies (that are so common place in campaigns now that they hardly warrant mention by the cowards who have the gall to call themselves journalists) there’s no way she could avoid being painted by others to the extent that any message she might have would be drowned in the flood.

What would they say? One example: “She’s for socialized medicine”. Why? Because she helped hold OPEN hearings way back when to shed some light on what she saw as a pressing issue. Well guess how much has been done since. Diddly Squat! And are we better off for ignoring it for 15 years? No, but we do feel good about ourselves for shouting her down.

I am not a supporter. In fact, for one of the reasons given in the article, I would fight against her. That reason being – 24 or 28 years of having only two families in the WH (maybe make that 36 if baby brother Jeb would follow) is inherently un-American.

I just despise the lack of thoughtful, civil discourse that masquerades as political campaigns. (Here’s an idea: the candidates hold a debate. One topic. The moderator only keeps time. No silly questions. It lasts one hour. Hold 10 of these on the top 10 topics selected by the public. That’s it. No other campaigning allowed. No other press coverage. No other TV ads. Let these guys continue to do their day jobs. Oh yeah, only one rule: The first one to raise his voice to interrupt the other looses. And you have to prove you watched before you can vote... )

Hi,

A point of view that I believe in. In my opinion, this has a lot to do with whether Hillary will ever be very influential with the American public.

Bill Clinton has a certain amount of class in his demeaner and presentation whether you like him or not. The record will show that I have no respect for the guy, think he is a jerk, and I do not personally like him.

That however, does not change the fact that he embodies a certain amount of charm and charisma when he is out in the public. He comes across as a class act (even if we think he is not) to the American people. He has that famous gravitaus line embodied in his presentation.

Hillary on the other hand has none of that. She is brittle, shrill, and her presentation is never pleasant. She has no automatic bonding with the public because she does not portray herself as trustworthy.

It has nothing to do with whether she is or not, she portrays the image that she is not. Her public demeaner is not genuine, rather sneaky appearing, and it is simply disingenious at best. To put it very bluntly, she has no class. She can not win with that image and I think it will continue to stick with her. She can also move to the center, but one can easily see that she is way to the left if you listen to her.

I agree that the Clinton and Bush families have had enough time in Washington. We need new blood and a new name in the White House. We need a real choice this time around and I am sick of Republicans and Democrats that play this game of portraying themselves as something they are not. That is my two cents worth.

USA Today
March 1st, 2006

Congress called an immediate session to change the age for presidential candidates from 35 to just 20 in light of young intellectuals in the country. While many feel that allowing people who may not even have jobs to run for president is foolish, others embrace the possibility of having a younger chief executive.

This just in from AARP:

On March 1st, 2006 Congress in, their infinite wisdom, changed the age requirement for President - from 35 years to 20. We at AARP fee that this is a blatant attempt to ensure the election of one EB to that austere and important office. The AARP has nothing against 20 year olds or other whipper snappers and certainly nothing against EB in particular. In fact we think he’s rather cute in his sailor shorts and bow tie. He does have strange hair – but at least he has some.

We do however feel that this is a slight against maturity and will fight it with all of our combined strength. (Of course our combined strength is minuscule and any protests have to be done by 5:00 PM because that's when Golden Girls comes on.) We therefore urge all AARP members to try to remember what you were like at 20 and decide if this is a good thing for America. The Editorial Board did just that and decided that the expression “The older I get the better I was” is apropos to this situation.

Would somebody please remind me what I’m writing about?

I totally agree with you, bry, as shocking as that might sound.

I don't think she will gain the support she needs for the same reasons that the article pointed out.

And I don't trust her either. Every time I see video footage of her it seems like she has an alienating aura about her.
