President's Day

Today is President's Day here in the United States of America. It is a day initailly set aside to celebrate George Washington's birthday (Feb 22). It is now a federal holiday.

But I was wondering. Who is evrerybody's favorite president and why? (I have a degree in American History, so this stuff interests me).

Even though many of you think that I would say my favorite is George W Bush or Ronald Reagan, my favorite is Abraham Lincoln.

He was a self made man. He preserved the Union at all costs. He freed the slaves. He is the father of the Republican Party. He literally gave his life for his country, and will forever be iconosized.

Yes he brought a religion and morality to the presidency, something we rarely find these days.

I haven't put much thought into it but I'd probably go for Lincoln too. Roosevelt would be next I suppose. They should actually kick Jackson off the $20 and put him there.
