http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4613108.stm

"A missile strike apparently targeting al-Qaeda's deputy leader in a village.

Ayman al-Zawahiri was not in the village on the border with Afghanistan, Pakistan officials said. But the attack left at least 18 local people dead.

The US military has denied knowledge of the attack, which US media reported had been carried out by the CIA."

thoughts? Is it about time, or are these moves too crude and will just piss people off?

I guess the CIA must have screwed up. The soldiers follow orders. Someone must have given the order to attack. If it was not the CIA it was another agency, I presume.

Although, the intelligence would have come through the CIA.

I think it was moreso the Pakistanis that screwed up and fed old information (I do believe the building was used by terrorists at one point). The Pakistanis said it was a 50/50 chance.. and I'm wondering why they would say that if it was themselves who provided the intelligence.

I have no doubt they did, and I have no doubt they got something in return, but it would not be wise on their part to admit to it.
