It's rather odd this hasn't been reported by the MSM. You'd think they have an agenda of some kind about global warming.

Since the story is only a couple of days old, it is possible the MSM will pick it up. Keep an eye out for it, and post which one does report it, as I might miss it. I'd say Fox would be the only one likely to report it.

Well, it's been several days now. Anyone seen anything in the MSM about it? How about you, 40sondacurb?

I have heard the European MSM are collectively wringing their hands over it, and wondering how can it be as global warming is supposed to be caused by people.

It is also a subscription from I found it. I guess it changes after a pre-determined amount of time. I found another version of the story:

but there have always been trees growing, the only new element is man made emissions.

And CSM just picked it up on January 19, 2006. Give then another week or two.

Yes, there have been trees and plants for millions of years. It's also been known for many years that decaying plant matter gives off methane. What's just been discovered is that living plants, including trees, give off methane, and methane is much worse than CO2 when it comes to global warming. The living plants could be giving off as much as 30% more methane than what the decaying matter does. And that is enough to screw things up and make the researchers start rethinking what is going on. Couple that with the fact the sun is getting hotter, and we are still coming out of the Little Ice Age, and things are not as cut and dry as some would have you believe. No one knows what the climate of the Earth should be. Should it be hotter than now, as in the days of the dinosaurs, or cold, like in an Ice Age? The climate is not static, it is dynamic, and if it is going to change, it is better to go toward the warm side than the cold side.

Excellent point! We've only been here for a while and have only measured weather patterns with accuracy for the last few hundred years. We don't know that "normal" is for this planet or exactly what it can take. Of course, that doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of it and try to preserve it in a good condition.

I say we hedge our bets and watch the pollution anyways, one thing we do know it does is cause asthma and cancer so might as well combat it on those merits even if it isn't the major factor in global warming.

I know CO2 is not a pollutant, don't know if methane is classifed as such.
