Re: Teacher's sex-ed talk riles parents
Hey its Utah. There is no separation of church and state - as they'll proudly admit. So if the Mormon Deacons say keep the kids in the dark, the schools can do nothing but follow along.
That's one (of many) reasons I didn't take a job in Utah. |

Re: Teacher's sex-ed talk riles parents
How will this promote an open relationship between children and their parents and teachers? When children feel they need to go it alone with no help, it opens up all kinds of horrors.
Well done Mormon church; indoctrination over choice every time! |

Re: Teacher's sex-ed talk riles parents
I'd like to thank the Mormons for the stance on sexual ignorance. My college girlfriend was a rebelling Mormon and we "learned" alot together.

Laws are supposed to be made for countries, not bits of countries. Sorry if you think this is off topic but it covers some of the things that get on my nerves. Why can't we retain our own identity.

![]() ![]() ![]() That is so funny, i was a little erm, under the influence when i posted that (late party). Hadn't even read the thread properly and honestly didn't know it was about mormons.........but it seems i hit the nail right on the head. Religion of any kind is ok in its place, in just the same way as myths and fairy tales but when all is said and done, it is all based on silly superstition. I sometimes feel myself being a little envious of the people who have these unsubstantiated beliefs. Perhaps the end will be more difficult for me because as far as i'm concerned it will be like the light being switched off, permanently. Why is it taking so long for the powers that be, ie, governments to realise that these fanatics cannot be allowed to take any part in the law making process. I think i mentioned, in another thread somewhere, a girlfriend of mine who liked to go to clairvoyant sessions and paying out hard earned cash for the benefit of listening to these ramblings was something that i could just about put up with providing this subject was kept in its place. But when she came home one day and accused me of being unfaithful to her, based only on a prediction from this lunatic, i had to have serious words about it. Such things can be dangerous to say the least and here's my prediction. If this world ever does come to an end, you can be sure that religion will have played a big part in it. Rant over. ![]()

Re: Teacher's sex-ed talk riles parents
The thing is that in the above case the law is stupid, but all the fuss to prosecute is from the parents. Religion will always seep into politics: preachers/ holy men will always have an opinion on what is right; that gets transferred to their followers, and the followers protest till its done.

They wanting teachers fired for catching and punishing their kids for cheating on a test. They are wanting police officers fired for citing their kids during an after prom party where there were kegs of beer and the teens were drunk. They are wanting to fire teachers for answering their kids questions. when will the parents find some common sense.

Re: Teacher's sex-ed talk riles parents
There are no religious kids. Only children of religious parents.
That's why all the horrific bible stories are ignored in favor of Noah and his impossible ark. It's something kids can conceptualize at a very young age. But don't ask any probing questions: how did they all know to come to where Noah was? Well, umm, God told them...so shut up and believe. What do you know? You're just a kid. Another word for it is brain washing. If its 100 parents doing it, it's a cult. If it's 100M parents doing it, it's religion. |
