WESTON, Wis. — An 11-year-old girl died after her parents prayed for healing rather than seek medical help for a treatable form of diabetes, police said Tuesday.

No, it's not the parents fault. It's God's fault for not healing her. Perhaps God wanted her dead, which is why she had diabetes. Perhaps the family had done something to encur God's wrath, and paid the price.
And we all know that doctors are just playing God, and are plain evil.

Now you know I find this as sick as the next... but remember, murder is an intentional act... they wern't intentionally trying to kill their kid.

if parents who accidentally leave their kids in a hot car can be prosecuted, then those who refuse to take their kids to the doctors should be prosecuted.

Maybe it's time to re-examine the relevant statutes being used to prosecute these people. I sure don't think that 7 years or so in the clink is nearly harsh enough. Hey, here's an idea! How about a return to trial by ordeal. We could throw them off a tall building, and if an angel carries them gently to earth, well, I guess we'd have to say they are innocent. On the other hand if they go splat, we send their benighted church a bill for the cleanup.

It really goes to why do we hold religious belief higher than moral belief? They'll argue that they cannot be prosecuted because they were following the tenants of their church - however misguided. And they'll probably get off. But why? If I say my religion demands that I sacrifice a virgin on the edge of a volcano can I do that? Of course not. But who's to judge that my religion is inferior to yours? It seems it's simply a matter of how many followers mine has versus yours? It has nothing to do with who's right. How ludicrous is that?
