That's disgusting, but when I went to war in Vietnam, that's exactly how we came to treat people. After a while, if you aren't sure who your friends were, it was easier to kill everyone. I knew guys that were proud of their ear necklaces and would cheerfully tell you that the most comfortable place to sit down and eat lunch in country was sitting on a dead gook's body.

War is brutal and dehumanizing. No matter how professional your soldiers are. In most eras of human history, the equivalent acts would have been performed on women and children.

What a shame.

Of course, war is terrible, but men are men. If they can do this, they are not worth much.

Even in war, in terrible times, somes fought for the right reason, refused barbaric practices. How come so many can forget about their heart and conscience whereas other keep behaviing a more honorable way???

because sociopaths and psychopaths are no longer rejected...they are probably sought after...some would say so that they can be used against their own citizens....

yes, this is nothing 'new', but how can we call ourselves a civilized nation when we allow our soldiers to get away with this cr@p? this type of activity, along with waterboarding, raping of innocent civilians (I'll skip some of the rather sickening details of methods used) and even the use of U-238 for projectiles are the acts of barbarians!...if you were a citizen if Iraq what would you think of America?

It is easy to lose your moral compass in a guerrilla war. You see your friend dying screaming in a pile of his intestines or buddies with their arms and legs blown off, and you can't point a finger at a specific enemy. It changes you, and some people recover from the experience, but others don't.

What I find truly appalling, is that women push for combat assignments. I think all men, at some level, really want to believe that women are "better" than we are.
