Bush attacks Obama
Last night, GOP chairman Mike Duncan put out some statements on Obama'ss wins, including this line on the Louisiana primary: "If he wins the nomination, Barack Obama’s liberal positions and thin record of experience will prevent him from being our nation’s Commander in Chief. Recent elections have proven that voters in Louisiana want strong Republican leadership – not liberal inexperience – and it will be proven once again this November."
And this morning on Fox, President Bush himself echoed the attack, adding the (also familiar) hint that we don't know enough about Obama. "I certainly don't know what he believes in. The only foreign policy thing I remember he said was he's going to attack Pakistan and embrace Ahmadinejad," Bush said. Of course, attacks from the other party can elevate a candidate in a primary, and Obama eagerly engaged, sending Bush's words to reporters with a rejoinder. "Of course President Bush would attack the one candidate in this race who opposed his disastrous war in Iraq from the start. But Barack Obama doesn't need any foreign policy advice from the architect of the worst foreign policy decision in a generation," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmi...cks_Obama.html

Re: Bush attacks Obama
First of all: Bush is irrelevant. I cannot imagine McCain or anyone else asking him to campaign for him this fall. That goes all the way down to Dog Catcher in Crawford. So he's spewing forth just to hear himself talk. George: Nobody cares what you think.
Second: If for some reason you do care about what he says, someone with his background making light of Obama's lack of foreign policy experience is laughable. "Well my Daddy was UN ambassador. And I used to party in Cancun." Like I said: laughable. Thirdly: Match Obama with Joe Biden (or someone of similar experience) as VP or SoS and now ask how much foreign policy expertise does he have available to him? Remember, you vote not only for the president but also for all the folks he brings with him. (In fact, I think the candidates should name their cabinet nominees and appointments before the election. That way we'd have known that we were going to invade Iraq before we even voted for GWB because we'd have seen who he was bring in - and we'd have know they were going to manufacture a way to make their invasion dreams a reality.) |
