McCain Warns: "There Will Be Other Wars"

Presidential candidate John McCain shocked observers on Sunday when he told a crowd of supporters, "There's going to be other wars. ... I'm sorry to tell you, there's going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars."

I believe what he meant was that there will be more wars. This is kinda like saying "one day i'll die" not a very chocking statement

However it does make me think twice about him, I do not want to see a war in Iran, I also do not want to see us withdraw from Iraq. His statement about not withdrawing out of Iraq for 100 years is entirely possible. Its not like its like a OMFG really type moment

However this really hurt McCain he should of been more careful with his words and said "I believe their will always be wars, that fact is simply a fact and cannot be changed. However we should strive for longer periods of peace, and eventually wars could become obsolete if we have long enough periods of peace. "

But if we are in Iraq for the next 50 years thats fine with me, can I assure you though, we won't be there for 50 years at the capacity we are now. I see major troop reductions refering to 80% reductions with 4-5 years

And before anyone says too long understand this, a war is not over in a day. Typically that is.

Certainly true in a sense, but why should America hog all the fun? Isn't it more sportsmanlike to let some of the other kids play without us always butting in?

The correct statement would be: "Of course there will be more wars in the future, it is impossible to foresee or control what other nations will do. However, as long as I am president, I will make sure that America strives to be at peace with all nations, and if the time comes that American must defend itself we will do it in a legal and just manor."

Yes there will undoubtedly be more wars. The question is what's worth sending your son or daughter off to die for? Not your neighbor's. Yours!

Look at the last few years: we invade and occupy Iraq because of - well who the <TWIBAT> knows, all the while turning a deaf ear to horrors elsewhere e.g. Darfur. Just think how many human beings a few thousand Marines there would have saved. It's all about priorities. And ours are <TWIBAT> at the moment.
