Mormon + being a robot = no chance for Mitt.

I think it is possible to buy a primary, but the general election is going to be funded by the parties. Even Mitts pockets aren't deep enough to tip the scales for the republicans.

This adminstration has left such a bad taste in the mouths of this country that the Democrats could run a alcoholic lap-dancer on probation for child abuse and win this election . . 28% approval rating . . .

And the Democratic controlled congress has a 22.5 % approval rating according to http://www.realclearpolitics.com. Bush has a 34% approval.

It would be interesting to know how popular other recent legislatures were when the president was of another party.

All the money he will put into the war will negate any tax and budget cuts he makes creating more need for higher taxes in the future. Mccain isn't thinking about the future and as much as I like some of his other policies I cannot vote for a president who will mire us in the mistakes of the past. This probably applies to Hillary too.

Exactly !

Re: Giuliani quits race, will endorse McCain

Drew, as a rabid Pinko Democrat, I can say that the agenda isn't to raise everybody's taxes, so much as get the budget balanced. Because the only way the next President is going to be elected is with the support of independents and moderates who think that fiscal common sense is important.

Yes, that involves some changes in spending as well as changes in tax policy. Just to review, during the Reagan Years the deficit tripled. Big Business and big incomes got major tax breaks. Everyone else got shafted. Inflation and interest rates were high, home foreclosures set records.

Fast forward to today. The Republican's have pushed big tax cuts (and big regulatory cuts) for Big Business and big incomes. Everyone else gets shafted. Interest rates for small borrowers are high, and home foreclosures have set new records. Real incomes for most American's are static at best. Gosh, drew, is it possible that the Neocons might have lied about their agenda?

Re: Giuliani quits race, will endorse McCain

Just to head off the inevitable, one reason its different now then when Reagan tried is the fact the baby boomer's were just entering their most productive years (read: highest earning). Now, they (we) are retiring in record numbers. So where are the taxes to pay for these record deficits going to come from?

Or as a guy at work said today: Bush and McCain are liberals. Clinton and the Democrats are Socialists. There you go conservatives: who ya gonna vote for now?

You are correct Sir !

Wages today are almost 10 percent lower than they were in 1973, after accounting for inflation:
