Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

Hello fellow friends!
I have started this forum to try to get a grip on wheather or not my opinions on cannabis are correct or wheather i have different views to everyone else.
I have smoked cannabis for eight years now and i feel that it is a completely harmless drug. In those eight years i have smoked about 1/8 of an ounce evry day or two days and i have never hit anyone or hurt anyone in any way whatsoever. In fact i haven't even had a serious argument with anyone. Since i started smoking cannabis i have never felt the need to move on to any harder drugs. i feel it is a stupid theory that it makes you want harder drugs because that is like saying drinking coffee makes you crave vodka. The only thing that could make you move to harder ones is if the opportunity to buy them is there. for example if your drug dealer sold multiple drugs.
Another thing that i cant understand is how cannabis can be illegal but ciggarettes and alcohol stay legal. There are thousands of death for both alcohol and ciggarettes but no deaths have ever been recorded from cannabis.

Please post your views.
Thankyou
bobby bottle

All drugs, not just pot, should be legal.

Every society has its socially acceptable drugs - every single one. Ours just happen to be two of the most harmful. It all boils down to $$$$$. There are some jurisdictions that garner a large percentage of their revenue from tax on tobacco. And, the liquor and tobacco lobbies give millions to our representatives to make sure they keep them legal and assessable. Not to mention TV ads and on and on...

Remember the adage: Money talks <TWIBAT> walks

The reason all those people look like that is because they are holding up mugshot signs that indicate they were ARRESTED for *gasp* drug abuse.

Who cares if its good for you? People die of alcohol poisoning.

If I wanna overdose on Heroin, who the hell is the government to tell me I can't?

I think all drugs should be legalized.

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

Who said anything about them being "good" for you? Like the original poster said, cigarettes are not "good" for you yet they're legal.

Do you support outlawing cigarettes and alcohol cstr?

I kind of agree, but on the other hand, what if someone gets stoned, causes and accident, and then gets people killed because of it ?

Additionally, all too often, drug users get addicted and do anything to get more money to pay for the drugs, even kill.......

As a matter of fact, I don't. But some drugs are more potent and mind altering than alcohol.
It's just a matter of where you draw the line.

Then they get punished as a murderer, which they are.... like a drunk driver.

Besides, I bet if drugs were legal, they'd be cheaper. Hobos can afford their booze and cigs, I bet your average middle classer could afford a drug habit.

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

They'd not only be cheaper, they'd be safer as they'd be regulated like other products. It'd also put thousands of violent criminals out of business. Drugs should be made by men wearing white lab coats at Pfizer and sold by pharmacists. Not made by 12 year old slaves in South America and pushed by thugs who shoot kids.

In the 1920's America noticed it had a problem. Criminals were making millions and people were being gunned down in the streets. To solve this problem they didn't crack down on moonshiners or try to outlaw guns, they simply did away with the prohibition that caused the violence and black market. Now almost a hundred years later we're a few decades into our second period of prohibition and it's as if the first one never happened. We haven't learned a single lesson from it.

But for the most part you're wrong. From a pharmacological point of view nicotine is perhaps one of the most dangerous drugs there is. 1: it is addictive in even small doses, 2: it causes long term and irreversible damage 3: it attacks numerous body organs and systems in a negative synergistic way From a societal perspective it is bad because1: it is easy to produce, manufacture, distribute and most importantly consume. 2: it is indiscriminate 3: it directly effects even non-users
, and on and on...

On to alcohol: less dangerous than nicotine but still - in our culture (if you can call what we have culture) it is very bad. When I drank too much palm wine in my village in Africa the ramifications were minimal - but here drink too much and drive home...well you get the picture. It is addictive. It has both acute and long term physiological and psychological impacts.

All of the above: not true with pot! So remind me again why nicotine and alcohol are legal?

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

an 1/8 oz every couple of days????....wow....

that aside (and that is a LOT to be puffing d00d...take it from someone who smoked for about 20 years and 'used' about 1 oz/month) it should be everyone's right to live their life as they see fit...if it harms others, then of course there are laws that cover it (unless you're rich) and they should be enforced...if someone wants to sit at home and get blasted then that is their right!....I laugh at these high and mighty supposed Christians as they obviously haven't taken time to notice their book says God created everything, and everything is good when received with thanksgiving...I for one thank God I had pot to smoke, otherwise with the way I feel about the typical 'man' I would have stuck my shotgun under my chin, stuck my toe on the trigger and pushed it a long time ago....

anybody who is against such an innocuous drug as marijuana is obviously a control freak and should just be shot in the back of the head with a large caliber projectile...

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

Ehhh... drugs are drugs... nicotine, alcohol, heroine, meth, cocaine, pcp, lsd, extasy, vicodin, aderal, perkaset, perkadan, acetometaphine, aspirin, caffine... all have harming effects on the body and all have harming effects on other people... its not just physical, but mental... nothing is victomless... everything has the potential to cause harm to someone other then the user...

But who cares... the government makes all drugs legal they best not have universal healthcare because I don't want to be paying for some loser who overdoses on drugs.

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

If i can buy my Whisky with no problem , i think cannabis (hashish, marijuana) should be legale for sale .
After dinner , i like to relax with couple drinks , someonelse has the right to do the same with his favorite choice whisky or pot , it doesn't make any difference .

I agree, I enjoy a few beers here and there. Maybe if i'm fairly up to it a bit of vodka.

Pots no different, let us smoke, free up prison space, man hours, and tax dollars, create new dollars at the same time.

Re: Should Cannabis Be Legalised????

Well, smoking pot, or any drug can harm the others around you who may not want to suffer effects of the smoke in the air. Thats why we have the smoking ban in the UK, to stop innocent people from inhaling rubbish in the air in pubs and clubs etc.
