CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC all left aligned... Fox News FAR right aligned... meh they complete each other!

Re: US public sees news media as biased, inaccurate, uncaring: poll
media companies have been and are in the state of being bought out and coming under the ownership (pwnership?) of a very few...this obviously creates a situation ripe for 'control' of the facts...whether that be by private or government agenda...

Re: US public sees news media as biased, inaccurate, uncaring: poll
Duh they are biased... News reports are created by people, and all people are biased towards their own views. How far to the left or right each organization is depends on your viewpoints though... To a rare few, Fox news could be left leaning. And for others, CNN could be too right leaning. "Moderate" or "objective" doesn't exist. In order to be completely objective, news organizations would have to report on everything that ever happened and only show the details - no commentary, etc. That would, however, make for some really boring TV and low ratings. Low ratings = low money = no show.

which is sad, because it means that the bare facts are not being made generally available for people to draw their own conclusions, which in turns leaves us all with an incomplete and probably wrong view of the world around us.

Re: US public sees news media as biased, inaccurate, uncaring: poll
Lots of people in this country are too lazy to draw multiple sources on a subject and come to their own conclusion. It's a lot easier to flock to the news station that represents most of their views and digest what they have to say/tell them.
I thing times are changing though. Baby boomers and such are typically not open to new ideas/views/technologies. Gen-X and Gen-Y are used to processing a great deal of information and making their own decisions because that's kind of where our society has been going. That's just my perspective though. |
