Pork at issue in doughnut franchise row

Interesting debate brought on by Islam, donuts and pork.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/busine...ck=1&cset=true

Does he have the right to not sell pork to all clients ?
I don't care much about pork , but i don't like to have restriction of choices Except if i go to dunkin donut in saudia or Pakistan , i will respect their restrictions in their country .

Re: Pork at issue in doughnut franchise row

I'm with Dunkin Donuts on this one. They have the right to set their franchise requirements as they see fit (barring discrimination).

The franchise owner could easily hire some folks to handle the breakfast orders, thus relieving him of the need to handle pork based products.

Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, UAE...

I'm just saying you have options when you find yourself having qualms over a franchise's choice deli meat.

Re: Pork at issue in doughnut franchise row

This is an interesting case, on the one hand its Dounkin's right to force franchise holders to sell what corprate wants them to sell, but they have made exceptions before, even with this guy saying no meat products so I really don't see why they couldn't make an exception again... oh well... lemme know how this turns out!

Because if you have 1000 dunkin donuts stores owned by somalies in Philadelphia ( it is just an exemple ) ...

You will end up driving the whole city looking for your favorite beacon egg cheese in a bagel , and at the end you won't have it , and get turkey instead .

Like i said : don't tell me what i should eat or not because of your religious convictions , we are not in somalia or sudan .
There is a simple solution : change the business , let him fix and repair shoes or drive the bus or whatever as long as it is ok with its religion .
There is always an easy and logic solution .

Re: Pork at issue in doughnut franchise row

No I agree... I was just saying... they made an exception with him once... it was in the story unless I misread it.

In the world of PC what can you really do... I hate it.

Re: Pork at issue in doughnut franchise row

Just to keep all this in perspective, there are Dunkin' Donuts franchises which keep Kosher. Yes, really. Krispy Kreme has them as well http://www.forward.com/articles/no-d...er-protesters/

Where's the outrage about a lack of pork at these locations? Where are the lawsuits?
