Why not keep him in prison for the rest of his life? Wouldnt that be more of a punishement? Instead we are going to make a martyr out him. He may not be around but his supporters will be and they will feel more justifed in taking revenge for him.

An eye for a eye will make us all blind..

Good. Deserves what he is getting. Hopefully his followers will realize that we mean business and will take action against stupid careless criminals.

Here's a video of the sentencing. Complete chaos in the court.

He deserved a fair trial and it does not seem that he got one. One should be punished for wrongdoing but humanity can not be removed from the justice system. Moreover if anyone follows the trial closely it is very easy to see that he never received an unbiased trial.

Last but not the least, it should have been people of Iraq who decide the fate of their ruler, not a puppet government set up by a foreign country.

Not to forget that when all these "crimes" were really committed by Saddam, none of his western friends said much against him. And please do not try to establish that Mr Bush had his heart weeping for Iraq and its people- its the oil that he is after. Now will he be tried ever in any court of law for taking lives of so many US soldiers who died not to defend their own motherland, but on a foreign soil fighting a war which was started to fulfill the political dream of one leader whose election again was dubious?

This political scene forum has become conspiracy heaven the last couple of days.

I will not shed a single tear for Saddam.

Nothing personal Fr4665, but I find your comment quite distasteful. Over and above this thread is not something I expected to see in TSF. In a public forum, there is a thread asking for death of someone! I hoped the moderators could be more stringent in this matter. Good or bad are rather very relative terms. One information that you should all know that the judge who gave the sentence is himself a Kurd- a sworn enemy of Saddam Hussain.

On a last note, if you are talking about crimes against humanity, I thing a number of US presidents should be tried just because they created Osama bin Laden- who in turn took lives of more 1000 of innocent civilians on 9/11. Now will you give the same war cry in this case?

My point is simple- no other country must not endanger or violet the sovereignties of any other country [which US did in Iraq using UN like a rubber stamp]. Whether a ruler is good or bad let the people of the country decide. The cause for which US invaded Iraq has proven beyond doubt as a blunt lie. So if any one should be tried its Mr Bush Jr. [whom Hugo Savez rightly pointed out as a devil] because he took lives of so many innocent Iraqis just to better his election prospect. if Bush was so serious about humanity [which he is obviously not] why there is no steps taken to free the people of Myanmar from the horribly oppressive military rule.

I request all here to be little bit more logical and become a truly global citizen, so that we can be more compassionate.
war is a crime against humanity so whoever wages it should be condemned irrespective of nationality and creed.

OK so FR is wrong for asking for the death of a tyranical leader who killed up to 1,000,000 people, and you call Bush the devil... Hypocrite.

You really think that the Iraq war is helping GWB's election prospect... uh, yeah. If the Republicans lose this election it is because of the Iraq war.

In an interview Chaves stated he was using the word simply as an adjective to describe many of Bush's actions in one word, and that he tough his speech was a humorous one. So he stopped short of calling him the Antichrist.

Always a gentleman eh? I have one question, why did Hugo Chavez and Ahmedinejad get allowed in our country... the one which they swore to destroy.

I don't think Caves actually made that promise (neither did the Iranian if I'm correct), but I imagines they were here because we decided we wanted the UN in our country. It wouldn't be very hard question to answer even if they had sworn our destruction.
