I wasn't, sorry if you understood it that way.

It does not come down to selfishness. It is capitalism, if you work hard you will be successful, and the government does not tax the rich to pay the poor. Which is the way it should be, I have lived in a socialist country (Canada), and America is far better structured so that if you work hard, and you are smart (you need both) you will find success, and you will reap the benefits.
