Bush gives ok to abandon soldier in Iraq

American soldiers rolled up their barbed-wire barricades and lifted a near-siege of the largest Shiite Muslim enclave in Baghdad on Tuesday. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, now giving orders to US troops, forced the end of the US search for an American soldier the US military believes to be captured in Sadr City.

Bowing down to the MIGHTY nation of Iraq the president has chosen to comply with the decision to sacrifice the soldier.

bush should have said if i dont get the soldier back ima nuke you all but thats unrealistic.

i think the search should have gone on longer. look at it this way though if they havent found him by now then the chance of finding him is very very slim because nothing has publicly been announced about a kidnapping or exchange for money or other prisoners of some sort.

i agree he didnt abandon the soldier ... he just stopped the search and cleared the checkpoints cause the little durka durkas are going ape "stuff" cause they get controlled at the check points and he wants to avoide as much confrontation with more crap then he needs.

OK, so the Dems say... give Iraqis more control. GWB gives the Iraqis more control, and look what he gets. I really think the dems don't know right or wrong, truth from falacy, but they have the uncanny ability to be able to tell that Bush is wrong.

Do you not remember Dems going crazy saying we should give the Iraqi Parliament more control over our military?

Saying that he stopped the search is wrong at best, a lie at worst.

I just noticed something hilarious on the initial link to the story, there is a link that says, Iraq War: The Truth... it links to GeorgeSoros.com

You cannot make a rational argument that the soldier was abandoned... that would be political suicide for the Republicans and the major media would be all over it.

I'm sure you got giddy when you thought Bush abandoned those troops, and I would be too if I was in your shoes, but the story is just plain... a lie.

#1. I remember the democrats asking for the Iraqis to take more control of their own forces, and US forces. Iraqis controlling the fate of US citizens is contrary to what the democrats want in Iraq.

#2. The army is looking for the soldier, otherwise they wouldn't have set up check points around a city they knew was off limits to them (risking political fallout) to search vehicles for the "not missing" soldier

#3. I edited in the Soros blog after I made the thread and searched for an article that related more to my assertion, ironically a republican popped up, so I linked his story. i don't get the joke

#4. You know what else would be political suicide? Calling the troops idiots on film a few days before the election.

Stupid thing happen when stupid people are in charge.

Gorge Bush bowed to Iraqi pressure and stopped the search for a captured US soldier. There is no other way to spin it.

Isn't that what is happening? So is the missing "guy" a civilian or a soldier, if he is a civilian you may want to edit the title of this thread. But he seems like a soldier to may, dems are getting their way.

I agree the army is searching for the soldier... So how long should we have cordoned the town off for? Is it not plausable that the soldier was taken out of Sadr City?

We should have searched for him as long as the military commanders and intelligence determined, not Al Sadr.

Is it possible the whole thing isn't what it appears to be? Could it be the whole thing was staged so the new husband and wife could be together? I seem to recall an earlier story about a soldier who was kidnapped, and it turns out he had relatives in Iraq and that's where he went AWOL. He may have had a wife there as well. Just asking.

Anything is possible, the guy could be dead for all we know, but the fact is military intelligence believe strongly enough that he was alive, he was in Sadr City, and that it was worth it to blockaded the city and search for this man despite the obvious political ramifications of going into a city they were told by the government to stay out of at the behest of the Iraqi PM.

I know it kind of hurts your gut to hear something this bad about the side you're rooting for, but you have to admit this is pretty bad. And at the very least, even if you don't think the GOP's other candidates should be punished for this, you know at least that the administration needs to answer.

Personally, I think some of that "shock and awe" really ought to be used. Get it over with and turn it over to the Iraqis. Be the strong horse the Middle Easterners admire so much, instead of ***** footing around.

We have the technology to kill them effectively, but the army is suddenly a humanitarian group. In was civilians die. Russia lost 6,000,000 civilians.

Lets just bomb the crap out of anything that looks like terrorist, hand it over to the Iraqis and if more terrorists come in that;s their problem.

Maybe that is a viable way to an end.

Bush had nothing to do with this. Nowhere in any story I saw, was the word scarfice used. We blockaded a city where "allegedly" a soldier was. The iraqi government decided that the blockade should be lifted. It is their country, the commanders had no choice but to comply. Bush never OK'd anything.

my first thought exactly haha it not like thers real real differences if it comes down to belonging or being pro this or that the civilians would all side with terrorists i garantee it

It took a couple of days from the time the PM complained before the military pulled out, they obviously wanted the siege, and the US military takes orders relating to political matters from the president, so I don't see how his administration didn't have their hands on this.

No one said that he didn't at all. Although Gen Casey has alot of disgression... and the point is.... the soldier is still being searched for... I don't really get this topic
