Help abit please

Ok. So I'm enlisted in a Upward Bound program. They have what they call are Job opertunities. I'm looking at doing the computer services. Now I don't knwo a whole lot about computers so I thought I'd study up abit.
I'm kinda strapped for money so if there is a book that covers everything on computers maybe i should get that lol anyway
Articles or somthing would be nice so I know what I'm doing if i take that pick.
thank you.

Re: Help abit please

I'm sorry, but there is no real "holy grail" when it comes to computing. I wish it was that easy.

If you are looking at low-level IT support jobs, such as PC repair, helpdesk, and so forth, I would take a look into material which covers such things as the CompTIA A+ certification and a few of the Microsoft exams.

Spending money on something like Sybex's CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide would definitely give you the most bang for your buck. It will help not only in education, but it also makes an excellent reference book to look at on the job.

I should note any decent IT support job, even the low level ones, will require certifications like A+.
