Shriners, TSF & You

For the month of December, TechSupportForum.com will be donating all subscriptions to the Shriners. This is your chance to get all the perks of becoming a TSF Supporter, while helping children.

For those that do not know, the Shriners offer medical treatment to all children from birth to the age of 18 who suffer from orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. They receive all care in a family-centered environment at no charge. That is right, the Shriners do not charge for any of the treatment, the family will never get a bill.

The Shriners established the first pediatric burn hospitals that have paved the way for similar hospitals worldwide, established the first spinal cord injury unites designed for pediatric use, and the first pediatric air ambulance.

They operate 22 hospitals in the United Sates. In 2006, Shriners Hospitals approved 38,984 new patient applications, attended to the needs of 128,578 patients and provided the following:

* 251,461 radiology procedures
* 296,859 outpatient, outreach and telemedicine visits
* 61,103 orthotic and prosthetic devices
* 24,609 surgical procedures
* 412,387 physical therapy treatments
* 181,174 occupational therapy treatments
