sounds cool, but how would we moderate it? would there be different rooms for each part of the forum? how would we make sure that someone with admin was in each room all the time to kick abusers? imo these are some things that will need to be addressed before we decide one way or the other. but i love the idea. now i have to find me a good mac client, and mic.

There's already the TSF Chat Room if that's the kind of thing you mean. Not many people use it though.

nice os x wannabe. i clicked, and it came up with a diag box titled 'youve be banned' and asking for login info. so were do i get user and pw? it didn't accept the forum login.
but the difference is that irc is real time voice, not texting.

then what the heck is the IRC that we are using to text chat with developers, when the game i play hosts developer chats?

is there more than one IRC?

IRC, aka Internet Relay Chat is a text-based system that allows for people to communiate in real-time with people all over the world. I operate a channel and have been a mod in many others. The issue of constant moderation is a valid point due to the real-time nature of it all. I can't IRC from work so that would leave me out. I'm sure the others would likely face similar issues with their own work or school.

Splitting it into rooms would be easy. ie...

#TSF-Security
#TSF-Hardware
#TSF-Ontheweb
#TSF-Networking

There will be no #TSF-Offline because that defeats the purpose. :p

so then i must be wrong about irc. i have always heard it when people talk about voice chatting, not texting. learn something new every day.

IRC is just pretty much an enourmas chatroom that is free and pass protected (or account)
