sorry if Im being foolish here, but it doesnt mention anything about it in the member list, or the rules, or the FAQ section, and OH HOW I HAVE SEARCHED for variations of rank, title, registered user, member, tech.... to no avail....

Anyway, my question: what's rank order for ones title (from registered user to member to...?), and is it effected by post count alone?

well, there is no real rank order. the titles that people have are related to their 'jobs' in the forum. and jobs are by invite only. if you show a serten knowelge and helpfullness in an area, one of the section leaders/mods will ask if you would like to help out. like for me, i am a mac guy, and therefore tried to help out those in the mac section. so one of the mods pmed me and asked if i was willing to be a tech, i just had to make sure that i was always a regular to that section of the forums, and keep him up to date on what was going on. i had no life, so i accepted.
but as far as having more options for your title under your username, avitar, and sig, those do come with time, and with money donations.

I guess it's kinda like this (from bottom to top)

Member
General Tech (500+ posts)
Supporter (made a donation)
Tech Team Member (invited to join one of the teams)
Mentors (chosen from the team ranks)
Moderators (chosen from the Mentor ranks)
Managers (one for each section)
Administrators (there are three, I believe)
