Suggestion to save repeating answers
Hey guys, love the site - keep up the good work.
One thing I have noticed is the amount of similar posts popping up, with the same problem. And the same question being answered again and again. To save time, why not make a section with posts concerning common questions? Im sure it would save you alot of work. |

Re: Suggestion to save repeating answers
Having some FAQ's (Frequently Ask questions) is not bad idea, but it really hard in forum primary geared to PC Questions. Every computer is different.
Please note also that when some body is having a problem, they don't spend a lot searching the forum for an answer, they just post a question. Many of use use what can be called "canned speeches" to save us the time from typing the same answer all the time. We just copy and paste from a document we have stored. The more you give a person to read or search the more likely they will just drop a question in. But thanks for the suggestion. We do post Announcements or a Sticky with the hopes folks will read them. If you have a suggestions for a forum, please PM a Admin or Mod in that form. BG |

Re: Suggestion to save repeating answers
Problem with your idea is that it's us that really read the faq's rather than the person who has the problem.
What we need is a way to educate the user to look and research first to find the answer .. but as I know only too well .. it's quicker to ask than to search. Most users haven't got a clue about their equipment and information given is far too technical. result is the brain shuts down and they ask what they should really do!! Keep the suggestions coming though. Thx

Re: Suggestion to save repeating answers
Yeah it would not be a bad idea but like Basementgeek said, not many people will look for an answer in that way, and we have to make sure that it is for only the most common of problems. Some teams (games team for example) have a hidden sub-forum designed just for common issues with a certain product that we use for situations like you said.
