pit bulls

2 young friendly male pits, who even slept in bed together, that my daughter brought brought home from Michigan, got into it and the black one killed brendle one. I could not seperate them, I wacked the black one with a metal bat numerous times. I could not get the black one to stop. [he had the brendle by the neck]. I couldnt breath after 20 or 30 mins. Probably due to having half my lung removed. Sammy was so attached to me, a real petting dog. He had a tumor removed 2 weeks ago that had plenty blood sources, maybe it had traveled to his brain.

We put Sammy down yesterday.

Re: pit bulls

Sorry for your loss. I get real attached to my pets to. Pit bulls are
so unpredictable, just be glad it didnt turn against you and yours.
Once they lock on, you have to kill them to get them off, pert near.
Its a bummer, because Im sure you loved the pet.
Take care,,,

Re: pit bulls

Sorry that you had this issue with your pets. I know that is a tough thing to go through, but there was nothing you could do. IMHO, Pit Bulls are dangerous and unpredictable.

Re: pit bulls

My sympathies and condolences Speedster, it's sad enough when a pet has to be put down, but when it's mysterious as to the 'why's of it, it must be a lot harder to bear.

It seems very possible that the removal of that tumour might have caused a blood-clot to the brain - What we'd call a Stroke, in humans, it would have similar results to personality and character changes in other animals.

when you lose a well loved pet it is like losing a family member

Pit bulls are banned in the UK. My girlfriend had a lovely one that she thought the world of. Someone reported her and the police shot it. She was heartbroken.

Re: pit bulls

Never in a million years did I think I would grow so attached to Sammy. And to have to smash him was devastating. The vet said he might have thrown a clot from the operation.
Now I have a lap-*** tennesse coon hound, and a fat pig shepard mix 12 1/2 yrs old. both follow me room to room. Thank God my kids werent home the other day.
You cant trust the pits.

Re: pit bulls

Sorry for your loss. I had an older husky mix female who was queen of the realm and a younger shep mix also female and one day the husky got snappy with the shep and the shep decided to stand her ground. The husky had a gushing neck wound, but fortunately she recovered. Heck Tasha must have been about 13 (she lived to be almost 15!).

Well, again sorry for your loss.
