"HijackThis" log help priorities

I am new to this very impressive site and like many others showed up because of a virus problem. As I've read through threads while waiting for my problem to be selected for resolution, I've learned quite abit. Your volunteers are impressive.

Here's my question: How do your "problem solvers" decide which problem to resolve next?

As I've watched over the past few days, I've seen newly posted problems taken on the day they were first posted while older ones dropped further back on the list. I've seen older problems "tagged" for resolution 3-4 days after the original post. Sometimes posters bump their threads for attention (seems inappropriate on a volunteer forum, but despareness drives all kinds of behaviors).

The waiting process might be mitigated if we knew more about how those decisions were made. Do members of your security team have "specialties" that drive their choices? Does your staff keep a log of unresolved posted problems by age? Do different security specialists use different ways of choosing who's next?

Thanks.

Re: "HijackThis" log help priorities

Hi there and welcome to our forum. All the Security Analysts are specialists in all malware removal. They generally do not deal only with one area. Members are all able to set the way their posts appear each time they log on. Since the Security Analysts are volunteers and some are from other forums altogether, we in Admin do not prescribe which threads are dealt with first. Obviously the amount of threads each day is a large determining factor as to where a thread ends up in the list. We do not find "bumping" a post inappropriate but recommend it, with the proviso that a member only bumps after a period of at least 72 hours.

There is no selection of posts per se. I trust this answers your questions satisfactorily.

Thanks, it does. Since everyone who posts there (including me) is anxious to get started, it is nice to know how it is done.
